Engaged KU
Engaged KU is an institutional initiative to advance community impact and engagement practices, reporting, and promotion at KU. Engaged KU is guided by the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification Framework and the APLU Innovation and Economic Prosperity Designation guidelines.
The Carnegie Foundation Community Engagement Classification has been the leading framework for institutional assessment and recognition of community engagement in U.S. higher education for the past 14 years. KU first received this designation in 2010 and re-designation in 2020.
The University of Kansas supports the definition, purpose, and principles of Community Engagement as described by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. As a Carnegie Classified Community Engagement institution, KU is committed to ensuring that our research, teaching, and service are connected meaningfully to the public good.
